Who's who

The work of the Church depends on many people, indeed on all the members of the congregation! In the following pages, we introduce our Rector, Kenneth Gibson, the members of the Vestry, (the body that manages the Church) and others involved in the Church's life.

The Young Church, an important aspect of our mission, is led by Vivien D'Arcy. St Mary Magdalene's is fortunate indeed to have two talented musicians, Bill Sinclair and Alastair Davidson, as Director of Music and Organist respectively.

The Right Reverend Andrew Swift was elected the 55th Bishop of Brechin on 2 June 2018. He was consecrated on 25 August 2018 in St Paul’s Cathedral, Dundee. Bishop

Bishop Swift was formerly Dean of Argyll and The Isles (from 2012) Rector of Dunoon and Rothesay (from 2010) and was a member of the Scottish Episcopal Church General Synod from 2011 onwards. He was a Depute Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute. He previously served in the Diocese of Gloucester, following a career as a shipbuilding executive, Civil Service research engineer and an officer in the RAF.

He was born in Aberdeen in 1968, grew up in Dunblane, and studied at the Universities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Oxford. He is married to Mary, a native of Stranraer, and they have three children, Frances, Peter and Eleanor.
