St Mary Magdalene's, Dundee

The Rev. Roxanne Campbell, who became our Curate on 27 September 2020, lives in Dundee with her husband Neil; she and Neil have one daughter. Roxanne was born and grew up in Stockport, near Manchester, and moved to Scotland at 18 to read Theology at the University of St. Andrews, having won a scholarship to do so. During her time at University, Scotland very much became home and she never got around to leaving after graduation! She and Neil met at University and they were married in ‘Sallies’ - the University Chapel - in 2009. Neil works for the Church of Scotland in the East End of Dundee, where he directs a successful community initiative called RockSolid. Roxanne Campbell

Prior to ordination Roxanne had worked for HM Revenue and Customs, Insights, and most recently for the Scottish Social Services Council, where she managed a team. During her time at Insights she gained accreditation as practitioner of Insights Discovery; during her time at the SSSC she gained a vocational management qualification and was a member of the Chartered Management Institute whilst studying this.

She was raised Roman Catholic but fell in love with the Scottish Episcopal Church in her early 20’s - she was struck by the inclusivity, diversity and breadth of faith. She’d had a niggle about ordination from a very early age and being in the SEC allowed her to pursue that call. Roxanne trained with the Scottish Episcopal institute and was ordained deacon on 29 September 2019. During her training she completed a placement with the NHS Spiritual Care team in Tayside and at St. Ninian’s Church, Mid Craigie in Dundee. She completed the first year of her curacy at St. Ninian’s, and was ordained as a priest there on Saturday 26 September 2020.

She is especially interested in faith-based social action, church history and systematic theology. In her spare time she is a gym enthusiast and enjoys hillwalking as well as spending time with family and friends. She is also an avid reader of fantasy, historical fiction and enjoys cooking (the latter with varying degrees of success)!
