St Mary Magdalene's sets great store in the pastoral care it offers: care of both members of the congregation, and of any others in need. It takes several forms.
Our Church congregation is regularly asked to pray for people, some of whom they do not know, some of whom may live abroad. When people are in hospital — or about to face an operation — we are glad to offer our prayers for the person involved, and for the doctors and nurses who are caring for them. Do please get in touch with us if you, or a relative, would appreciate a pastoral visit, or would like to be remembered in prayers.
If the person is in a Dundee hospital, they will be visited by the Rector or one of the Pastoral Team and prayed for in person. This ensures that anyone going through a time of illness, pain or deep anxiety is commended to God's love and his healing spirit.
A prayer list is given to the congregation every Sunday for them to use during their prayers at home. The prayer list is used in Church at all services.
The celebration of the Eucharist is central to our worship as a congregation, and for those who are housebound by infirmity or illness, we provide Home Communion on a regular basis.
The congregation are visited regularly. Our free Church magazine is delivered to all households, as well as Christmas and Easter cards.
Our Rector and Pastoral Team offer their help and seek to provide spiritual comfort to any who are encountering the difficulties that all of us as human beings experience, whether that be bereavement, loneliness — or indeed any of the many other 'natural shocks that flesh is heir to'.
